Roslyn Viaduct

In 2005, Tully was awarded the contract to replace the ½ mile Roslyn Viaduct on NYS Route 25A, which spans over Hempstead Harbor in Nassau County. The Roslyn Viaduct is a state-of-the-art bridge project and the first its type being built in NYS. The bridge is constructed of precast segments that extend to 21 feet. A self-launching overhead gantry crane is being used as part of the construction process. The crane was manufactured in Italy, and has successfully worked on three previous segmental bridge projects in Panama City, Florida and Hong Kong, China. The erection system, designed pre bid, was deemed defective which had delayed the project in addition to other design flaws. Tully and its engineers have been working closely with the NYS Dept. of Transportation, to correct these problems and keep the job on track.
